The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has launched Cyber Choices, a national awareness initiative aimed at helping Canadians better understand cyber laws and make informed ethical decisions online.

As more daily activities move online, the initiative encourages individuals — especially youth — to use technology responsibly and understand the legal consequences of cybercrime under Canadian law.

The Cyber Choices program includes resources on:

• Cybercrime and the Criminal Code of Canada
• Cyber safety for youth
• Guidance for parents and caregivers
• Reporting cybercrime and suspicious online activity

The RCMP says cyber skills can be used positively to support innovation, learning and security, but can also lead to criminal consequences when misused. The initiative is designed to increase awareness before harmful or illegal online behaviour occurs.

Members of the University of Toronto community are encouraged to review these resources and continue practicing safe, ethical and lawful use of technology.
