Phish: Remote employment opportunity
Published: November 3, 2025
These emails promote fake remote job opportunities related to the university. They lure recipients with promises of high pay, flexible hours and minimal requirements – all typical in employment scams.
The scam asks you to click a suspicious link and does not provide any job details. The sender uses a non-U of T email address (e.g., Gmail or Telegram) and requests your bank details to deposit a fraudulent cheque. Victims are then asked to buy gift cards or similar items. Once sent, the cheque is cancelled and the victim loses money.
