The SAT – Foundations sets the foundation for the overall SATP. The goal of the project is to provide U of T staff, librarians and faculty with baseline training to help improve their knowledge about essential information security topics and threats.

To achieve this goal, the University will make the Security Awareness and Training (SAT) platform available to interested staff, librarians and faculty members across the University.

The project covers all staff, librarians and faculty (appointed and non-appointed) from interested units across all three campuses. Participating units can decide which staff, librarians and/or faculty members to onboard onto the training platform.

Over the years, we have seen a strong interest from many of our stakeholders at the University for a security awareness and training initiative. The project is designed to encourage a security-aware culture by providing curated role-based security training to U of T staff, librarians and faculty members.

Through the training, you can:

1. Improve your knowledge on information security threats affecting U of T and individuals through highly engaging curated content.
2. Learn how to prevent malicious attacks and data breaches that can cause severe damage to you and the University.
3. Help reduce human error and mitigate security risks to protect individual and institutional data.

The U of T awareness and training standards provide the requirements for security training and awareness. For example, units handling data classified as level 3 and/or 4 are required to provide security awareness training on recognizing and reporting potential indicators of insider threat.

While units are not required to participate in the SATF project, participation is highly encouraged to help improve our security posture, build a security-aware culture at the University and meet U of T standards.
