Launched in 2023, the University of Toronto’s Information Security strategy sets the mission, vision, goals, objectives and outcomes that drive the information security priorities for the University.

To reflect on the ways units have advanced their priorities in line with the strategy over the past year, the 2024-2025 Annual Report highlights key achievements and success stories from across the tri-campus community.

Readers can have a look into our cyber security maturity journey through the lens of four key objectives:

  • Securing digital transformation
  • Enabling safe and trustworthy teaching, learning and research
  • Resilience through effective risk management
  • Excellence through collaboration

Meeting each of these objectives head-on, the report brings us stories of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education’s human-centred digital transformation, U of T Scarborough’s ability to bridge the gap between policy and process and U of T Mississauga’s success in unlocking cyber resilience through security log management.

We also get a closer look into the important work the institutional Information Security team has been doing in collaboration with both internal and external partners, including:

  • Expanding next generation anti-virus to 10,000 additional devices and servers, bringing the total to over 20,000
  • Launching the 1Password password manager, with uptake from 1,500 staff and faculty, and 650 students
  • Conducting workshops to help units build and test their incident response plans

…and much more.

“The annual report celebrates the work of our tri-campus community in building more secure and trusted digital experiences for all,” says Kalyani Khati, Associate Director, Strategic Initiatives, Information Security.
