The goal of the Research Information Security Program (RISP) is to facilitate and enable the innovative research of our academic community while creating and championing opportunities for safeguarding their intellectual property and data integrity.

By collaborating with, supporting and advocating for researchers and research administrative and technical staff, RISP helps to foster fruitful solutions and cross-campus connections to address relevant cyber security-related topics and requirements.

Consultation areas

  • Identify and translate the data security and privacy requirements placed on research by sponsors and partners.
  • Discuss and/or assess the security of research data and institutional or self-managed research environments.
  • Address new cyber security requirements outlined within agreements and contracts.
  • Assist with classifying research data according to the University’s Data Classification Standard.
  • Host workshops, talks and training on cyber security topics for research audiences.
  • Advocate for the interests of the research community regarding cyber security requirements.
  • Create self-serve resources and provide bespoke support to the University’s researchers and research-supporting staff on cyber security topics.
