How to get a UTORid

Newly admitted students can log into some University of Toronto services using a JOINid (included in their offer of acceptance letter) until their UTORid is activated. To convert a JOINid into a UTORid, you need a Secret Activation Key (SAK), which the TCard Office will email once your TCard photo and documentation are approved. Once received, enter the SAK into the UTORid activation portal.

For more information about getting and activating your UTORid, visit the TCard Office website.

Sponsoring a guest UTORid

Administrators may need to issue a UTORid to someone who does not meet the criteria for a standard UTORid issued to students, staff and faculty. The UTORauth service provides two types of guest UTORids to meet this need. Guest UTORids have access to the U of T wireless network but are not eligible for a UTMail+ email address.

For information about sponsoring short-term or long-term guest UTORids, see “UTORauth: Administrative Tools” on the Enterprise Service Centre Knowledge Base.

UTORid help

To troubleshoot issues with a JOINid or UTORid, or to view frequently asked questions and answers, see the Enterprise Service Centre Knowledge Base. If you can’t find an answer there or have not received your Secret Activation Key, contact your campus help desk for support.
